After eleven seasons with AFL powerhouse Essendon, Travis Auld was appointed as the Gold Coasts SUNS’ first ever Chief Executive Officer in June 2009.

It was a massive undertaking for the former Bombers COO who was charged with the re-introduction of AFL on a permanent basis to one of the countrys most competitive sporting markets, in an extremely tough economic environment.  

In just under two years, Auld and his team, hand picked from around Australia has more than delivered on their pre-license promises, delivering the $144 million dollar “Metricon Stadium”, one of the countrys most exciting young AFL lists and a game day experience judged the best in the AFL.   

Bold, Fresh, Relentless, Community & Dependable aren’t just words for Auld, they are the very values he has built the Gold Coast SUNS brand around, and Travis and his team certainly haven’t been afraid to test the boundaries or boldly pursue their goals. The sporting world sent into a spin when the GC SUNS announced the signing of Rugby League international Karmichael Hunt, and again when the codes leading player Gary Ablett signed a long term deal with the games newest club.

Auld and his list management team also took a fresh approach to list management when they assembled the most exceptionally gifted collection of young players ever brought together. The task now is to ensure the Club remains focussed and continues to flourish in the most intensely scrutinised sporting competition in the nation.
